NGC quality control....ugh!

A few weeks ago I sent in two separate orders of coins, one modern economy and the other at the $30 a pop level (coins were well over $300 ea) and must to my surprise they both were finished up rather quickly. Around Thursday last week it said "Quality Control" for both the orders. Well, come Monday the grades for the modern set were posted, about what I expected but the other lot still said "quality control". Well, it's now Friday and the modern coins just arrived but the "quality control" still remains for the other order. What the heck? The turnaround for the economy was set at 21 days yet they were finished in less than 14 and the higher value coin turnaround was listed at 15 and it's now been almost 20. Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there a problem with the coins and/or encapsulation that might account for this or what?

It's happened many times with NGC in the past when all orders other than moderns and economys need to be reviewed by one of the senior graders before they can be finalized. Since their finalizers are in Boston this week the coins won't get finished until sometime next week when the graders return to the office.

I am continuously amazed at how much people whine about the tiniest things. Turnaround times, much like grades, are only an estimate.

    Definitely ATS material... ask THEM!

Edited since you're new - ATS means "Across the Street", meaning NGC. And welcome!

Here's another whine about turnaround times.32 days for 6 coins!!!!ARGGGH,I can't stand it anymore!!! Looks like both companies are busy in the economy tier at least.
Mine were accepted on the 20th of July.I realized they probably don't count weekends so I'm stuck 'til the end of the month at least.. Waahh!!

NGC sucks. I just don't know why I still stay with NGC. Recently I sent in about 30 coins. NGC over charged me for about $180 without even telling me what is that for. After calling NGC couple times and talked an accounting guy, all he said is an up charge but did not tell me what is the reason. I still don't know what to do with it. Maybe I will end up file a dispute with my credit card. Unbelievable!!!

I have another 10 coins was ready to send to NGC but after this I sent them to ANACS instead. Maybe it is time to think aobut join PCGS.
