David Hall at PCGS Vegas Show, July 22, 2010

The keynote speaker on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at the PCGS Members Only Show here in Las Vegas was Collectors Universe President and PCGS Co-Founder, David Hall, who emphasized three key points about collecting.
1) Play with the coins you like; don't think you have to collect a certain type just because someone else does. You should have fun with coins because that's what it's all about.
2) Find out as much information about coins as you can. Information is a huge part of the future of the coin market.
3) Use your head: you're not going to buy a genuine $5,000 coin for only $1,500 online. It's just not going to happen.
David indicated that more information will be announced soon about the PCGS Coin Sniffer system that has the ability to detect altered coins, such as the addition of putty to the surface. He said technology will be a big part of the future of numismatics.
Below is a photo of David making a point during his hour-long, informal, informative and lively meeting with collectors and dealers. Friday's eagerly anticipated meet-the-expert session will be with PCGS President Don Willis.

That's because he is a California kind of guy. Everyone knows Longacre is more of a classic New England blueblood - you can imagine him dressed up to play with the polo ponies, not in rock bands
Just enjoyed a wonderful half a day viewing coins. No newps today. Invited a friend that
saw a pretty nice 1938-d buffalo at MS68* (Larry Shipiro's). We left without it but I think he can't resist!
We'll see.
All in all a fun day and great company! Thanks Don et al.

The photo of you and RYK that was posted last year showed your true colors. Casual.
