I hate sellers that . . .

. . . print their shipping labels through PayPal (so you get the email notification), then wait 8 business days to drop it in the mail (as per USPS.com).

Now, I'm usually pretty tolerant, but I paid $5.00 for what was noted in the auction as "Priority Mail" shipping. I received a 20 count lot of cards inside a team bag (no other cards for protection) and tossed into a 00 bubble mailer shipped via 1st Class. Why do people check off Priority Mail, charge for Priority Mail, then ship via 1st Class?

  • Simple answer; they never changed the box from another listing prior. That would be my guess.

Neg the seller unless he refunds the entire shipping amount. That is a huge error and he should eat the shipping costs.

You know what really irks me? When I pay $4.00 shipping for a single card and the actual postage is only $2.50...what's up with that!!?? image

I didn't NEG him, but I dinged his DSR for timely shipping and shipping costs. Two weeks to receive the item was a bit extreme considering I paid within 10 minutes of the auction ending and he paid and printed the shipping label the same night. Luckily, the cards weren't damaged, but this sort of packaging for bulk lots of modern cards is rather alarming as is has happened on most of the lots I've bought recently. Why can't a seller take a moment or two to package cards safely and securely? It costs them less than a nickle more and all of an extra 30 seconds.

NASCAR fans? There's a seat in the outhouse? I thought you folks just used a box over a pond or stream or something with a hole in it for the business to drop through... A seat!?!?!
  • Ever had a seller ship a card that was not inside a sleeve or top loader or card saver and just in an envelope? Just curious.

You know what really irks me? When I charge $4.00 to ship a single PSA graded card, that actually cost me around $6.00 due to all the extras I have to put on the card (signature confirmation, etc), and my stars for shipping get dinged, when it actually cost me MORE than they paid!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr!

You know what really irks me?? When I buy a raw card as NM/MT+ and it gets delivered to me with a PINHOLE in the back of the card, that doesn't go thru to the front. Wonder what PSA will grade that one!?!?!?!?!

unless the packaging is awful, move on. You are talking about less than $5, that's even a big mac meal!

Who was complaining about shipping costs? That's a horse who has had its bones beaten to a fine powder (something that some get and others continue to harp on -- sarcasm and irony obviously missed by a certain few). The simple point was that some sellers will print the shipping label and wait, wait, wait, wait to actually mail the package. The advertising of Priority versus the 1st Class delivery was a byproduct.

The faithful may resume their continual and pointless attempts at berating each other. Another horse that has drawn its share of flies.

Advertising Priority and waiting multiple days to ship the package is not right and the postage should be refunded. I have goofed and forgot to mail a package for about a week one time...When I realized I had not mailed it, I immediately went to the post office and mailed the item and sent the buyer his shipping money back with an apology. The envelope was ready for shipping the week prior and slid behind a box.

  • just FYI sort of off the main topic/subject:

next time your at the post office ask them what their guarantee is on priority mail? you will be surprised?
answer: usually 2 to 3 days sometimes longer but we will not refund your money if it takes 5 days to deliver .

Only guaranteed service by USPS is Overnight.

at least this is the way it was a couple of years ago when I asked.

what happened to the OP sucks & I think that paypal/post office or what ever service used for printing mailing labels, should have something to show when the item is actually shipped not when the stupid label is printed. Lazy sellers print labels on monday and then drop it off at the post office on saturday.

Someone could have taken your OP as a complaint about shipping costs.

    After all you did say:

    Steve:

Of course they could have, because that is the hanger that they ALWAYS want to throw their hat on...

I never complained about the shipping price. All I said was the package was poorly packaged, sent over a week after the label was printed and asked rhetorically why some choose to ship via a different method than advertised. I didn't mention what it cost to ship it or the price differential, nor do I really care. If someone else wants to read into that as a complaint about shipping costs, that's their prerogative. I really couldn't care less.

I just sent something priority express overseas with tracking. If it does not arrive in 7 days via online I can take my receipt back and get a refund.

I wish you the best on the priority express, maybe the post office has changed their policy in the last 2 years, I can just speak from my experiences. One time from Ohio to Washington sent priority mail it took 8 days and I went and complained and was basically told tough luck/SOL, the guy at the other end wasn't happy but there was nothing I could do. Over the last 10 to 15 years, I have had this happen maybe 8 to 10 times were priority took anywhere from 4 days to 4 weeks and never received anything but "sorry this happened to you". I will say the post office has gotten better with priority mail for me in the last 2 years longest time being 3 days.
I just would not bet the farm on 2 day delivery if it was really important!

I agree if it was advertised as priority and it came regular, you are due a partial refund of your shipping cost. If, however, on any auction if it doesnt state how the item wil get to you, but does state the shipping charge, then no refund is due at all and no complaining justified.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • You ae right about the guaranteed shipping time. I had a package going from Haughton to Dallas priority take 15 days once and the USPS was like things happen and we offer no guarantees.

When I sell online I always show the item as going first class at 13 ounces first class upgrades to priority anyway.

I must have read what you said wrong Scott,

Saying "I paid 5.00 for Priority mail and received 1st class" Must have confused me.
