BBCE National group rip?

Just a thought.
It appears there will be quite a few regular group rip participants getting together for a day or two at National. Would be really cool to set up a group rip and ask Steve to bring the boxes to National and everyone get together and rip 'em. Would also save us a little money since we wouldn't have to pay shipping costs.
Any suggestions?
EDIT:
Sent Steve an email with the following boxes requested for a possible group rip.
Baseball:
1974 Topps wax (36 packs)
1975 Topps mini
1976 Topps wax
1978 Topps Cello
1979 Topps Cello
Football:
1976 Topps Cello
1979 Topps Wax
1986 Topps Wax
Basketball:
1978/79 Wax box

Baseball:
1975 Topps $81.25
1976 Topps $42.50
1978 Topps cello $15
1979 Topps cello $14.06
Football:
1976 Topps cello $72.12

I'm in, try and add a little more Football to the mix. And will Steve give us a little better deal than just the 10 % off since it is the National?

Think we could get enough interest in 74 or 75 basketball at $56 per pack? 76 basketball at $32 or 78 @ $8?

78 Basketball were pretty good last time we got some. I got a few PSA 10's from the hockey pakcs that had basketball in them.
I love the 75 mini wax...and they are much less expensive than the regular size 1975 wax packs...77 baseball sounds good, too...

I've just never opened any regular '75s. I love the 77s too but BBCE apperantly doesn't have a full box.

Agreed...and the 75 regular size packs are tougher to find, too (contrary to the old story about minis being rarer--they may have been back in 1975, but not so today).
I bought a full box (still shrinkwrapped) of 1977 wax from Steve several years back...at that time, they were going for about $500...now they seem to commanding upwards of $800 and are tough to find..almost all of the ones I've seen for sale on ebay are resealed...I think this is due in part to the large supply of uncut 100 count 1977 wrapper rolls that were being sold at one point..too many homemade packs, including a bunch by GAI in the newer holders..

quality item like it came off the shelves yesterday. Clean, minty fresh, sealed by BBCE, and they haven't seen the light of day or touched by too
many hands. And if you could not afford a case or the REA auction lots, this is a great alternative.

Actually, the price of 75 mini wax has declined over the last decade, as I can recall when a 1975 mini wax box would command $1,600 easy on ebay, and single packs were going for about $50 each, with GAI 9 examples fetching $70, and this trend was in full swing before the Conlon stash came up for auction...don't get me wrong, I still love the set, but there a lot more mini packs out there (probably due to their initial limited and regional production numbers) than regular size 1975 packs. Now, if we're going to discuss rack packs, that's a totally different story as the number of 1975 mini rack packs out there is a very low number indeed and compared to regular size 1975 racks, the min racks are definitely exceedingly scarce..

Do you want to try to get together for the rip? At least some of us? I'll be at the show on Saturday.

Yeah, I thought it would be cool to get together and rip the packs. My wife of course said we were just like the nerds at a Star Trek convention.

I think that's what ESPN's Bill Simmons said about the National in Cleveland last year. That's okay, I think we get more tail than trekkies.
<< <i>I would be in for a rip, but I am only going to be there Friday... >>
We talked about doing a group rip pick up least year, but I don't remember it actually happening. I think we left it open for the option where you could just picking up your packs from the booth, or setting up a meeting time to rip together. I'd love to rip together.
Not sure if going this year--finances, probable pending divorce--just to name a couple of reasons...it'll be a game time decision. But if I do, I am good with meeting, ripping and pounding down a couple of cold ones!

Sat sounds like a good day to me.

I was just curious because I'm planning on bringing my laptop, and I wanted to post this in case someone else was wondering.
Is the intent to get together and rip with everyone, or just have a pickup from Steve? I'd like to do it as a true group rip!!!

If they have a fresh box there, I may have to buy a pack. I only bought a few packs back in 1987 and never pulled a Jordan.
<< <i>I called the convention center to ask if they offered free Wifi (for those of us not cool enough to have it on our phones), and they said it's available for $4.95 for one hour, or $15.00 all day. It's located at the Starbucks that's on one end of the convention center, some other eatery place on the other side (can't remember the name), and on Level 300 of the Convention Center.
You would think something like this would be complimentary by now? I hope the signal reaches our booth, b/c I'd rather be doing research on a laptop than on my phone.
