  • Cool!

Have you checked the 1950 for the very rare QDO?

Love the continuity/theme of your set, very well done. Would have loved to [see your face when you saw the last coin you needed sitting in a dealers case

I had to agree that the timing of this thread along with the same coins being offered on the BST is rather suspicious.

While I do have the set listed on the bst- I had no intension of "spamming" it to try and sell it. The pictures are for those who came to see the set completed with the cac stickers on them.

In no way do I say in this thread that the coins are for sale on the bst and its only by people looking at the bst that they made the connection.

This particular thread is only for those that want to see the pictures.

The fact that he just shared the pictures and the fact he made NO effort to announce what he is selling and that I had no clue these were forsale TILL someone else criticized him for posting these coins makes me believe this was done with best of intentions and no spam.

I love the coins. very nice set.

To help get this train back on the tracks, here is a rattler I picked up on Saturday in Raleigh.

BTW - nice complete set of rattlers. Is the '56 a Type 1 or Type 2? Also - check the '61 for the big doubled die reverse.

Wasn't this set only supposed to be displayed at the last Parsippany show... but then coincidentally was also offered for sale image

I see the 3 gold beans. Congrats! But the 1962 and 1963 especially raise a question. They are PR67 and gold beaned, which means they are at least 68.4 by CAC standards when these were looked at by CAC? Or was the cameo contrast taken into account here, because I do see cameo contrast on these two? In general terms, does CAC take into account grade qualifiers(right word?) like CAM, DCAM, FBL, FT, FB, FH or is it strictly the grade numbers 1 through 70?

Saying a PR67 looks like at least a solid 68 is a bit of a leap of faith given CAC looked at these coins with the plastic in the way, and it is so tough to grade proofs through plastic given hairlines on the coin and/or on the plastic. Just sayin'.

I, of course, haven't seen the coins in hand and I am not knocking the coins at all - I am honestly wondering about CAC's method of determining what gets beaned, especially gold beaned, as it relates to grade qualifiers. These 2 of joebb21's coins just happen to be prime examples for bringing this question to the forefront.

    Very nice set joebb21!

Check the '51 and '57 for a Tripled Die Rev.

    Here's the tripling for the '57, I don't have a pic for the '51.

All he did here was post pictures of some coins.
He never mentioned they were for sale. I don't see a problem.
There are a lot of dealers here who post pictures of coins, for one reason or another.
If one happens to be from their inventory, is that automatically considered spam?

A very nice set of coins, BTW!
    Indeed.

Nice coins and great to see them all in OGH.

However, I am spoiled when it comes to Proof Franklins. Brilliant proof Frankies just do not cut the mustard with me. I only get my knickers twisted over Cameo and DCAM Proof Franklins (toned or untoned). I just can not help it. Brilliant simply does not cut it for me.

Ok, I can clear the air on behalf of joebb21.

We have been negotiating the possible purchase of the set (the set for my friend who LOVES complete sets of rattlers) and the extra rattlers for myself for several weeks now. In fact, we had already scheduled for a face to face meeting to probably finalize the purchase of joe's rattlers on Thursday at noon. The only reason joebb21 posted the pictures on the BST was for my friend's and mine benefit plus the always possibility that joebb21 and my friend and I cannot complete the deal on Thursday. Of course, he has to protect himself yet at the same time show us pictures for our preliminary review.

Of course, the reason joebb21 posted the pictures here on this thread is because he is proud of what he has accomplished. Who wouldn't be?

Joebb21 has been an absolute gentleman throughout this process of selling his set

In fact, I strongly encouraged joebb21 to take the entire set to CAC for possible stickering. He did tremendous. 14 for 14!

Now that is something to boast about!

This thread was NO SPAM at all.

Just to confirm that what I said was truthful, my friend and I took time out of our busy work day today, met with joebb21 and both his entire set of Franklin rattlers and all of his duplicates.

This was all set up before joebb21 posted these pictures.

Really? I wonder why he bothered to post this set on the BST 7 minutes before creating this thread then... Regardless, congrats on the sale and purchase and I've removed my spam pic now that the set has been sold image
