Secure Plus: Genuine?

There is a collector on another coin forum ranting and raving that most of his PCGS submissions were returned in body bags.
He submitted under Secure Plus as many of his coins were over $5K in value.
Are Secure Plus submissions not put in Genuine holders?
Please let me know so I can answer this fellow.
Thanks.

The holders are not just for + coins, I think they are trying to keep just graded coins in the new holders. I would assume that eventually they will put coin in secure plus holders when that is the only option to submit under.

Secure Plus does NOT mean the coin has a + grade. If the label has the shield on it, it indicates the coin has been scanned with the SecurePlus. Whether the coin grades MS64 or MS64+ is a different issue, although it can only grade MS64+ if it is in the SecurePlus holder.

Huh?
This one is in a Secure Plus holder but is not grade MS64+. It's graded MS64.
This one is in a Secure Plus holder and is graded as an MS64+ .
Both coins are in Secure Plus Holders yet only one actually grades MS64+.
Or am I misreading what you intended to say?

Thanks for the input.
I did not realize that coins submitted as Secure Plus were being body-bagged for problems.
<< <i>Youd think you could default to a regular Genuine without all the mailing back and forth. >>
I think that makes a lot of sence. Why the old system for the new service?

Yes. If a coin is in a SecurePlus holder, it may or may not have a + grade (64 or 64+). If a coin has a plus grade (64+) then it MUST be in a SecurePlus holder. Regular holders do not offer + grades.

That is correct. There are not Secure Plus holders that are "PCGS Genuine".
Secure Plus submission of a problem coin = body-bag.

On the other hand, I would think that PCGS would WANT to give a "Genuine" label on SecurePlus (rather than BB), specifically to identify problem coins, so they don't get doctored and re-submitted......or am I missing something here?......
......I collect old stuff......
Perhaps PCGS feels this might result in dissatisfaction and/or refund requests (for the difference in price between the two services)?

Wouldn't this give altered coins a "second chance" at grading?

How likely is it that a coin in a genuine holder will be cracked out and altered and then resubmitted?
Edited to add: I can pay far less to recevie a coin back in a Genuine holder under the normal submission process than I would pay for it to returned in a Genuine holder under the SecurePlus program.

This is making the assumption that the BB'd coin was altered, or will need to be altered to ever make it into a graded holder. Many coins are returned, either BB or Gen, that will grade on some subsequent submission. The OPs problem can, and does, happen quite often and most often has NOTHING to do with altered or doctored coins, only inconsistent submission results.
Of course, this is all just my own humble opinion.
