I showed a guy I work with the two pictures, knowing he was older I asked him if he remembered the cards. He replied "yes" he said he was 11 in 1952. He stated between him and his brothers they had plenty of 50's / 60's cards. I asked what happened to them. (Break out the skipping record player). Him and his 3 brothers went into the service. When the youngest left so did the cards, in the garbage truck!

    - I would encourage all collectors to post a video of their collection - I have found it to be a very rewarding way to share my sports cards!!

Since most of the pics in this thread have disappeared, here is pomobileclk's colored version of the 1952 display.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Always cool to revisit that pic.

Anybody got a time machine I could borrow for a few hours?

Notice "Thing" from the Addams Family in the pic holding a waxpack. LOL

<< <i>lawnmower - if you had access to a time machine, someone else would likely have had it and used it before you and grabbed the cards. You would be going back to an altered timeline and when that minute struck, there would not be any cards to put out! >>

But if you knew who that person was you could go back an hour earlier and put them in a cage.

I actually had the "time machine" dream Monday night. Back to 1951.

Would you remember to take circa-1950s cash with you? If you tried to buy cards with modern Federal Reserve Notes or current base-metal coins, you'd probably be getting out of Federal prison about now.

Also, if there WAS a time machine, and you weren't the sole proprietor, it wouldn't be long before every collector had gone back 50 years and picked the candy store shelves clean., and the high-grade cards and unopened wax would be dirt common today.

What I - also - found interesting is that this box reveals it's the 3rd series! That would've really helped back in the day - ya never knew what ya gonna get most of the time.

IIRC it came in the Topps magazine that they published in the early 90's (1951+40=1991) I'll look thru the ones I have for the specific issue, hopefully I have it.
