Add 3-5 years on his career and his RBI #'s would have been out of sight. I also believe he had near the same average as Ruth and Williams.
HR's would have been well into the 650's or better.
Perfect leader for a team. Near perfect man by all accounts.

Lou Gehrig was the most underrated player. I agree. He was overshadowed by Babe Ruth early in his career and then again by Joe Dimaggio later in his career.

I remember reading an article in a Sport magazine when I was a kid concerning who was the better player, Musial or Williams. The article conceded that although Musial was a much nicer, decent person, Williams was the better player. FWIW.

I would say that Williams was the better hitter, but Musial was the better all around player. I have heard on many accounts that Musial was a better fielder than Williams. Williams also said on one of the shows on espn classic ( I think it was Williams top 20 hitters of all time) that he told his son that Musial was just as good of a hitter as he was.
And over the last couple of weeks I did catch a couple of Barney Miller episodes on TBS - one had the gay black nerd from Revenge of the Nerds as a teenaged pimp, the other had Hank Hey Now Kingsley as a protoTeabagger...so that pretty much speaks for itself...
