Live 1978 Topps Rack Case Rip Going on Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

image
image

We've seen several posts asking who overpaid for the 3 Box 1978 Topps Rack Case from the Robert Edwards auction. I did, along with my friends who run South Florida Sportscards with me. You can view our ebay store by clicking on the following Link. While likely not to be a profitable endeavor, we are looking forward to sharing our rip with you.

Tune in here at 9:00 PM Miami, FL time on Wednesday night for step by step photos of the carnage. Here's hoping for lots well centered sharp cards!

wow, 1978.. what memories... my brother and i actually ran into an older lady who was a jobber for topps in 1979...she would go from candy store to candy store and sell these cards.. she had 24,000 leftover cards being in wax and cello packs... she wanted 120.00....my brother and i made like 35-40 sets or close to that back in 79.....what memories.... thanks for letting me share..

Razor sharp cards! Unfortunately, it looks like a number of them are plagued by slight tilts and centering issues, but they are beautiful in any case! The Rupert Jones looks like a Gem Mint 10.

Here are some more from packs 4-6. I agree regarding centering. I need to look at the cards when I have time to see which cards have legitimate 10 potential. There was a Fosse that looked super nice.

Sweet Murray! If that's not snow on the card itself, I believe you have a Mint 9 there. Nice pull@!

Huge Orioles fan, love "Eggie" Murray, but this card has forever eluded me for some reason. I've even cracked two wax boxes, still nothing. I should just go buy one...

I bought one wax pack in a group purchase last year and pulled one. lol.

If it makes you feel any better though....it was very off-center.

Wow! that's some sick star power in the first few!!! Too bad about the smudged Tram rookie.... I would have left it in the pack. Can't believe how many '84 Tigers had rookie cards in this set! Tram/Lou/Morris/Parrish/Bergman/Ruppert/Bair.... Congrats on the Murray! That is a blazer!!! I'd say you already made a great deal of yr money back!!!
  • BarkusDBarkusD Posts: 624
We left the Trammell/Molitor rookie in the pack. The one we scanned was pulled from the rack with Yount on the front. We plan to get the Trammell/Molitor and Ryan packs graded and leave them sealed.

There is no snow on the Murray. We just need to clean the scanner.
