FWIW, the coin is beautiful! But... I would be image as well. If I were PCGS I'd be A.) Embarrassed that it went out, B.) Paying all shipping for you to get it back to me and reholdered properly, C.) Giving you a free grading or two and D.) Tracing this back to the person responsible and giving them a talkin' to.

Again, bigger picture, that is a great lookin' coin!

One of these appeared about 10 days ago and Don Willis was instantly on the Boards and aware of the situation. He also was very clear and professional in rectifying it with the person who had posted. I am sure from that response that PCGS is not only aware of this problem and working on it, but extremely concerned that you are satisfied. I bet a simple call to customer service will instantly clear this up to your satisfaction. And . . . nice Buff!

By the way, Don's immediate and personal reply was pretty impressive to me, and I bet a few others. How often does that happen in the corporate world?

Yes that other post was me, and I sent the coin and slab back for reholdering, I'll let ya know how this works out. But, I am very disappointed this has happened again. I obviously like this grading company or I wouldn't be sending all of my coins in for grading, but come on guys, lets get it right!!

Scuffed gaskets have been discussed before. I've sold lots of them on modern 70s and have had to exchange a few coins. But they don't look as bad in hand as they do in photos. --Jerry

Yes on 70's its even more annoying as you have to pay extra to have them reholdered.
By the time you pay shipping to/from pcgs, the reholder fee and the $8 handling fee its around $70 to get one reholdered.

Maybe someone in the assembly room is new... I just got a 1956 DCAM Washie back with a wide mark like that on the holder, right over the obverse field...

I think part of the problem is the washer insert is clear, any scratches or scrapes will show like crazy!! Maybe they should consider a dark color or black rather than clear. Just my thoughts....Joe

I have had the same problem I get my submissions back and the slabs look like they had seen ten shows. Most of the maring was inside the slab but there were scratches on the outside as well.
Not real happy with it but what do you do give your coins up for a month and pay all the shipping costs some of mine make yours look good.

I have had several slabs with that crap in it on recent orders and it looks terrible. If I ever get ones like that again, I will send them back for reholdering -- maybe if enough of us do that, they will fix the control process to prevent this in the future.

The gasket that holds the coin is marred and visually unappealing to the OP.

Apparently the gasket was scuffed when the coin was inserted into the gasket. I've seen this many times and don't consider it to be a big deal.

Those "scratches" are not obscuring any details on the coin and their distraction element is minimal.

In my opinion as long as the coin isn't damaged or improperly set in the holder there isn't a problem.
