psa 8 61 ron santo ruined in transit

maybe not ruined, but no longer a psa 8.

I open my return package from psa, and pull out the cards.. and I notice something sticking out of the edge
at first I thought it was the stupid memory lane thing they put in every sub. nope, it is my ron santo rookie
floating free.. looks like the holder was never "welded shut" now it has a couple nice dents on the surface
where the slab would connect to each other
and a dinged corner.. I am so ticked off right now I could scream

hopefully they stand good for it, I am confident they will

Could it be the shipping changes caused this? Registered is far more secure, which is what they used to use. Now, don't they use Priority Mail?

PSA will reslab or pay for the damage.

That Marishal couldn't possibly be from PSA, although swartz may have made it sound like it did in his post.

Yeah Swartzie never gives the whole story, just dribs and drabs.

Priority mail is sorted by machine while registered mail is strictly processed by hand. The Marichal card might have been a victim of the machine. Sorry to see that.

To add to what Mike said - in the offices, when parcels are sorted in the morning, at many offices the parcels are tossed from the cage they arrive in, into large orange plastic bins on wheels. It's how they sort parcels to each route. In my office they're tossed about 8-10 feet, at some other offices they go up to about 20 feet.

Parcel post, first class, priority, media, etc are all thrown into the same hamper. Express and Registered are not thrown ever. They go to the accountables desk and are handed to the carrier.

I really don't like the Priority shipping. It doesn't hurt me because my wife is the clerk in the office where I get my mail, but the difference in care is so much more important to me over how long it takes to get here or how much it costs.

Marichal looks like a victim of poor packaging combined with an unlucky trip thru the postal system.

Given my Santo collection, it hurts me to see this happen to the card and to you. Sorry.

my issue had nothing to do with the shipping.. it was part of a 50 card sub
and it was the middle card in the stack of slabs.. somehow it snuck out without being sealed
