The most recent Santa Clara show was very good to me. I cherrypicked a 1936-P DDO FS-102 in a PCGS-65 CAC holder, and a 1936-D DDO FS-101 in a PCGS-65 holder. I also found this raw little beauty, of which the total pop at PCGS so far is only 1:
And at the last Long Beach show I found a nifty raw AU58/MS61 1941-D/D FS-501 that's in for grading now. Total pop at PCGS is currently just 3:
1941 S/S I will get better pics when she comes back from PCGS. I should have just paid the extra to get the designation on the slab but she is a purrrty one atleast to me.
Awarded the coveted "You Suck" Award on 22 Oct 2010 for finding a 1942/1 D Dime in silver, and on 7 Feb 2011 Cherrypicking a 1914 MPL Cent on Ebay!

Thank you. Well, you just have to be ignorant and lucky. I bought the coin as a toner '44-D in MS66 (I'm building a "set" of toner '44-D coins in MS66) and had no idea about the initials until someone pointed it out to me.
What is conisdered a good reference for Walker varieties? Ive asked this before so sorry if the answer is still "not much" but is there a good book or website for them?
Just got this 1944-D FS-901 Handcut Designer's Initials from Larry Shapiro (PQPeace), via the recent Baltimore show. It's an unattributed PCGS MS65. Thanks Larry!
The handcut initials are very distinctive when you see them in person. I'm also fascinated by the heavy raised die polishing lines, the long horizontal crack that runs through the eagle's talon (and keeps on going), and the nearly vertical crack that starts above the AR in DOLLAR.
Great thread and VERY cool coins. I've learned a lot reading it. Thank you. MJ
