Seriously, bravo!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>I'm just a bit curious as to why to slab mid grade and (mostly) common date barber dimes? >>
Pls see Avatar, thx
Seriously, it's for a mid grade registry set... plus, and you're gonna laugh, buying these raw and getting them graded is like a little game I play with myself to see how good I am. Cheap therapy.

all good reasons, please don't think I was trying to belittle your motives. I have a dansco with many of the same dates in similar grades (perhaps even one or two higher
Enjoy!

Well, I started on the Barber Halves in VF or so (A few are XF and the set's going to end up going that way, long-term) and those are all worth slabbing. Long story short, one night I'm on the phone with Larry (SeaEagleCoins) and he had some better date VF dimes, and, well, I agreed to buy them all and since I like Mid Grade Barbers I thought that the set would be fun in mid grade. Of course, with the dimes, a whole bunch of them are worth less than slabbing costs in VF-XF but I want to have a matched set, as much as possible anyhow.
It's funny, I'm pretty darn good at grading the Halves, but the dimes, as you can see, confuse me a tad.
I've probably never posted a single barber coin pic (or maybe I did post an 01-s and 13-s quarter, but that's it) but have all three full sets in nice mid grade circ (with a couple exceptions that I still intend to upgrade).
I started off with an AU 1893 half that my father left me when he died.
I liked the design so much, I thought, "hmm, that would be a great set" and so it was, but at a lower grade than AU. Then the quarters and finally dimes followed suite. The big three quarters are still in lower grades (96-s in vg10, 01-s in g4 and 13-s in vg10) but they still look okay.
Now to add that pesky 94-s dime that keeps eluding me. Perhaps I can sell my entire collection and put a down payment on one.

And 20/20 this time? That is an incredible quantity of old circ collector coins to submit and only get 2 any genny holders. Well done!
Here's another submission of raw Barbers that went 19 for 19
I've had really good luck getting raw Barber coins graded.... also had some great sources for the raw coins, which is a big help (SeaEagleCoins, PonyExpress8, JJ Teaparty, Walkerguy21D and a few other great people)
Of my sets, I'd say that I "made" about half of these coins.
20 for 20
19 for 19
Bill...you're gonna send in my V Nickels when I have them out of the SDB's.
Congrats on the new submission.
I'll post my raw Barber Dime submission once I get the images.

I know nothing about the OP's collecting budget, but everyone can't afford to collect complete series in mint state grades. They might want to preserve their coins for the future as well as protect the values of their coins.I used to only want uncirculated coins, but now enjoy collecting coins that actually were used for what they were intended to do.
edit to add:Great results!

You hit the nail on the head! It's not the money at all, I could collect these in higher grade if I wanted to, heck, sometimes I wondered if the Barber Halves wouldn't be cheaper in low grade MS! Basically, this started out with me collecting Barber Halves in VF. I decided to collect them in VF instead of higher grade not for reasons of cost, but for the challenge. Barber Halves in VF/XF are tougher than they are in Mint State. I wanted to do the dimes, and eventually the Quarters in a similar grade so they would all have a nice matched look.
No offense, but uncirculated coins don't have a lot of appeal to me, there's really not much history to them, IMO. No offense to people who like pristine mint state coins, I certainly do appreciate the appeal in a coin that's never seen use and has booming luster and full details, but, to me, it's boring. I like dirty coins that were used as money, when I hold a 100+ year old coin that was actually used in the channels of commerce, it feels like I'm holding an actual piece of history in my hand.
