Ebay seller discounts affected by SNAD

In September ebay will consider:
"New seller standard: Buyer Protection cases counted along with low DSRs.
Opening a case with the eBay or PayPal Buyer Protection program is a clear indication of buyer dissatisfaction, especially when the buyer tries and is unable to resolve an issue directly with the seller. That's why, starting in September, "item not received" and "item not as described" cases will be considered along with low DSRs to evaluate and reward seller performance. "

If that is the case, how do you tell the buyer that the item has shipped and congradulate them on their purchase. They will be saying we don't communicate with them which will lower our scores.

I suspect you will have to communicate through an eBay form where the actual buyer's e-mail address is never disclosed to the seller -- you compose it on the eBay web site and it reaches the buyer with some ebay.com e-mail address listed as the sender.
As far as the buyer protection claims, are they also going to consider publishing NPB's for deadbeat buyers or this simply another initiative to further tip the balance of power to the buyer? If the latter, it just shows that eBay is continuing to become more and more of a seller-hostile place to do business. I've already stopped selling there, and I've never had any problems in any of my seller transactions.

Through the ebay message system. It also helps buyer if you add tracking info in "items sold" as they will see this number also. In addition it helps the seller to add the tracking number in paypal in case paypal needs to verify receipt of shipment.

I always appreciate sellers who add tracking info and mark the item as 'Shipped' for review in my eBay summary - this usually results in 5 star feedback.

That's the net effect, but the real impetus is reducing the amount eBay pays out in FVF discounts. They got caught off guard with the amount they were ponying up with the first discount program based on overall DSR's, so they changed it to the onesy twosy system. They're still paying out too much, so they're throwing the all too easy to file claims in the mix. Everything eBay does is about revenue generation. They may couch it in "security" or "buyer protection" terms, but it's really about their bottom line.

I can't find anything that stated definitevely that eBay will stop providing buyers' email addresses. This announcement...
"Starting in June, eBay will take steps to ensure that user information is kept even more secure and provide additional efficiencies to quickly respond to emails. Anonymous email addresses will be used onsite whenever buyers and sellers are exchanging emails (Ask a Question, Reply to Question)."
appears to only be addressing contact through the eBay site- not direct buyer/seller email contact. If this is not correct and somebody has a link to an eBay page indicating a clear intention of discontinuing the provision of email addresses, I'd appreciate it if you would post it here.
In event selling fees exceed final price realized money will be withdrawn from your mandatory paypal account and a reverse negative seller discount will be applied on all future sales.
All sellers will be required to maintain all funds in paypal account unless used for ebay purchases.
Withdrawals will be viewed as attempts to defraud ebay/paypal.

What a load. "...especially when the buyer tries and is unable to resolve an issue directly with the seller." Right. Buyers don't do that anymore- their first action these days is to file a complaint with PayPal. And some posters here even advise people to do just that.
I'm always more than happy to work with buyers to make sure they're satisfied, but there's nothing I can do to avoid a dispute going through PayPal if they won't contact me with their concerns. A while back, I had one buyer completely refuse to respond to my emails regarding an item lost in the mail because a PayPal rep told him not to contact me directly.
What ought to happen is that eBay/PayPal should contact the seller in the event of a buyer complaint and see if he's even heard about it and had a chance to fix things before letting the buyer open a dispute in the first place. Won't happen though- there's nothing in it for eBay.
Less profit from increased fees are my rewards for seller performance.
Who's kidding who ?

I can almost see the logic in "Item not as described" complaints. Almost. As long as the seller has had a chance to fix the problem.
But "Item not received"? WTF??? We're supposed to get rated down because THE POST OFFICE loses the package? Right- that's reasonable.

Fark Ebay. Isn't their latest round of jacking up fees enough?

I've done that often enough. In fact, I just mailed a $225 coin to some guy in Italy today. Dude said he'd pay me after the 1st of the month. His feedback is good, so I'm cool with it. Never been burned before.

You're either incredibly lucky or haven't had many transactions, LOL..
