I told a few co-workers about my latest purchase, and the response was, "you spent that much for a penny?". Then they pulled some change out of their pocket and said, "I'll sell you this one for half that much". If they only had a clue.

When I was a teenager me and my freind took up coin collecting. my friends grandfather would take us from time to time to small shows in the area. his grandfather, in the mid ninteen thirties lost his meat store business do to the depression. but he picked up the coin collecting bug. he new a lady at the bank that would save him a couple rolls of any new change that would come in. this went on from 1936 through the 1950`s.. many times things were finacially hard at home and his wife would want to cash in all that change, but he would not give in. he said they had many arguments over the years. finally He retired in the early 1970`s on social security and we all know what a meager living that is. so he started attending the local coin shows looking to sell some of his collection to supplement his income. even to his surprise, It was making his life finnancially much easier. one day looking though the red book he checked his nickle rolls and discovered he had an entire roll of uncirculated 1937-D 3 legged buffalo`s. Well After that his wife spent much her time telling friends and family she alway`s supported his coin collecting. Women ?????

I hope you guys are very carefull who you tell that you are a coin collector. While your co-worker may be honest, they may mention your hobby to others where you work and one of those folks may have a drug habit that needs a lot of money to support. Other than my immediate family and a few close coin collector friends, no one knows that I collect coins. Keeping your hobby a secret is just a basic common sense security measure.

WOW! 56 replies? I didn't expect that. LMAO! Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one who faces a little friendly persecution from friends and family.
Thanks for all the replies!
