Opinions on this ebay purchase (raw 2-cent piece)

I was busy at work one afternoon recently, waiting for the phone to ring, so I began to browse ebay auctions for all US coins ending soon. Wow. There're about 30 ending every minute.

This one looked interesting but the seller photos sucked. Only one bidder. So I pulled the trigger. $50.

Opinions? Guesses on the grade? Color? Will PCGS approve?

    if that was from 2boyz... i was the underbidder. i saw it when it was listed and bid minimally just for a fat chance. image

    congrats. don't know much about these, but it looked okay in the photos...and still looks okay! but what do i know!

    The coin looks unnatural, as in cleaned and/or recolored.

    I dont know much about this series, but it doesnt look right for some reason. Maybe its just the coloring. Who knows.

    It does show wear on the WE but I bet it looks real nice in hand!

    I wondered about that too, Mark. I don't know this series well but it feels like AU and much too red. There's a little rose toning that didn't come out well in the images. I was thinking it might have been juiced.

    Sorry, but I would say that has no chance to grade at PCGS.

    Probably not, but you don't need a $50 coin surrounded by $50 worth
    of plastic anyway. Enjoy it the way it is.

    I see the rose toning you are refering to but unfortunetly the coin was cleaned at an earlier point in its life.

    It looks like a recolored AU that PCGS would put in a "Genuine" holder.

    I agree the area to the left of the shield is wear but the color is orange. The details are perhaps xf/au the we is nice.
