Secure plus...Just a little disappointed, and I'm not talking about the grade...

crazyhounddogcrazyhounddog Posts: 14,068 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'm talking about the quality of the slab or " the plastic" they put my coin in. I submitted this coin hoping for a plus and I didn't get one and that's okay, I understand that might happen, but at least I thought I would get a nice scratch free slab out of the deal, but, well that's not to be. I wonder why this is happening more and more? What's the deal?

Looks like it's in the ring, not the plastic. The coin looks unobscured, although I agree, there is a distraction, and I also wish that perfection was the norm when receiving your graded coins back.

It won't help. It's on the flexible ring rather than the outter plastic shell. I've seen this many times. When they assemble the slab, they sometimes scrape the rim of the coin over the ring when they are pushing it into the hole.

I bought a PC from Dell once and it had problems that took hours on the phone and much angst to figure out. But never once did Michael Dell offer to have me mail it back at his time and expense to take care of it. Where do you get this kind of service? I mean seriously!!

    Gorgeous Buffalo, Joe!

And way to go, Don. A little goodwill comes back in big ways.

Someone said the shop ATS has scratch-resistant slabs. Is that so? If PCGS can do this it will be the next big one!
    Lance.
  • Very nice coin. The kind of coin i'd expect to see a + on for sure.

I got this coin back from them just a little over a week from when they recived it. Well , I didn't get the plus I think this beauty deserves, I don't think any less of this gorgeous Buff. And I really do like the looks of the new secure plus holderimage

Notwithstanding the scratch on the inner ring that holds the coin in the holder, I must say that the black color of the inner ring really compliments and shows of the eye appeal of the pictured coin. Much more so than the other inner rings I have seen that are opaque or white.

Just for the record, there is no black inner ring on this holder. What you are seeing is the black felt material I use when I image my coins. These scratches are on the plastic, the inner ring comes nowhere near the coin....

Me too. But, it should have never left looking like that:

    Final Verification
As a final quality control check, all PCGS-graded coins go back to the grading room for review by a "verifying" grader. The verifier carefully examines each coin through its tamper-evident holder to ensure the integrity of the sealed capsule, and to check the accuracy of all certification information.
