My large cent date collection - updated

ElmerFusterpuckElmerFusterpuck Posts: 4,808 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've posted this album in the past, but I have added some more purchases and upgrades, shocked that I don't have a nice common date 1851 example anywhere! I don't think I will ever get this set completed, but it does get new additions every now and then. Hope y'all enjoy it!

Very nice set! Being partial to the middle dates, I love that 1828. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice! I did a similar set about 10 years ago, the only difference was mine were free to breath and housed in a Dansco album (except for the Chain, '99, and one or two others I couldn't bear to crack out).

Nice. Such as set can take years to assemble.

Really Really Nice. Great eye appealing coins in intelligent collecting grades. You've done very well!!

You could do with your set what Ive done with my gold dollars, a dedicated website that can display them all with some comments.

PS, many many years ago the Vineland NJ historical society had a large display under glass of a complete date run of large cents. It was an object of fascination to an 11 year old ambro51 and no visit to Aunt Coogies was complete without a drive over to the historical society. I dont know if the display is still there....

Wow! What a nice group. It is also quite nice to see the HI and Fugio in there, too.

Really nice set - they are tough to get that nice, not to mention somewhat costly. Good job!!

Thanks for all the nice feedback. It's been fun watching it grow. Somehow I managed to get the 1797 and the 1824 cents within a week of each other. I'm glad that happened, the prices for both are much higher now. My pics of those cents are so-so, taken before I got more educated on my photography. The 1824 date is one I never see many nice examples of, except for that MS-64 BN example listed on Ebay. I've been outbid on nice 1821's more than once, maybe one day I'll replace that ICG example. That 1821 is very sharp, but I'm not sure if something has been done to it, it's a pretty dark example.

The 1824 was the first middle date I ever bought, a nice example of N-2:

Wow, that is a sharp 1824! The 1823 is tough too, it's the only 1820's cent I need (plus a 'more natural 1821). For some reason, I haven't found an 1836 example I liked yet, though the upcoming Holmes auction has some nice ones. Mid grade on up is fair game for any day. Have no idea when I'll get a chain cent, but maybe one year!

I love that you included the Hawaiian cent.

    The 1852 is amazing.
