Question about small eagle, Draped bust silver coins
Why is the half dollar the only denomination to have a value placed below the eagle?
I can understand the dollar, had dollar and unit on the edge, but the half dollar had half dollar or fifty cents on the edge, why didn't the quarter, dime or half dime (which didn't have lettered edges) have nothing below the eagle to indicate value?

Maybe it was about the real estate. Or the obvious denomination due to size. Certainly edge lettering was out of the question.
I get the feeling that when the boss called meetings to review plans, nobody got the memo.
