The Closed 3 variety is by far the scarcer of the two varieties from the Philadelphia mint in 1873.

I couldn't believe it...my wife bought me a raw 1880 Morgan, a raw 1926 Peace Dollar and a BU 1999 SAE as a birthday present. This is the first time she has ever got me anything related to numismatics. I couldn't bear to tell her though when I saw them that she got swindled at the pawn shop she bought them from....after all, it's the thought that counts, right?
BTW, happy 38th birthday frozenink and happy 40th anniversary coinnut!!
