PCGS allowing you to "name your coin"

BigEBigE Posts: 6,949 ✭✭✭
I noticed how some of the Sonnier collection dollars have been named by their owners, one is called "jingle bells" for its Christmas like colors. Would t be a good idea for PCGS to charge a fee for you to name your coin and put it on the holder? ---------------------- BigE

I notice that their PSA division allows you to do just that for cards. PSA had + grades before the coin division did as well. Maybe they test the idea there, rework it until the bugs are out of the system, and then bring it here.

These are all 1916 MPLs. I still own the two on the left, and I call the first one the "Brillo Pad" coin, as that's what comes to mind when you start looking real close.

I would like to name a few of my coins "PQ" and "+".

Do you think PCGS will let me?

Who would want to buy a coin named Jingle Bells? I would think you'd have to reholder the collection before you (or your heirs) sell.

  • I'd name all of mine "MS100+" and get them on ebay ASAP.

No. I don't know how this would apeal to anyone.
  • And then do we have a stickering service to agree or disagree with the chosen name? Unreal!!

I would name all my coins things like, "Super Premium Quality", "Eye Appeal Galore", "High End for the Grade" "Very Rare and Valuable" "and "Incredibly Desirable"

look, if you want to name your coin or coins, just buy a label maker and do some cool stickers with the names on them and stick them on the slab, book, or hell, put `em on the coins themselves. there is absolutely nothing wrong with naming things, especially those very special coins that you enjoy the most in your collection.
