Do ya snipe on teletrade of just go for the bid early?

I usually put a smmal bid in early but, if I know I am going to be around when it closes, I will try to snipe instead.
Last night, I almost forgot and remembered in time to put a bid in...when I did a refresh, the auction was closed...unintential snipe, but I got it
About 17% below my max bid as well, so that is good.
This practice has also bit me in my butt more than a few times as I got busy, on the phone, outside with the kid, not near a PC, etc, when the end time rolled around.
So, do you, as a TT user, like to just bid early and bid your max?
Do you prefer Monday nights for bargains? Wednesdays? Sundays for "supposedly" better deals?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Had a watch that was in-step with the TT clock, and would make my bids about 30 secs before close.
Worked like a champ.
I just put in my max bid and let it fly. There is quite a flurry of activity near the end of the auction and you may not be able to get your bid confirmed.

So I walked away and someone sniped me and I lost it. Seems the seller may have lost some $$ also. So for me...... Its back to the snipe.
<< <i>Interesting that you should ask, I usually snipe on Teletrade. But Last night I had a early bid in on an item. I saw that it was at my high bid with 2 hours to go so I tried to increase my max bid by $20. It was at $280. The message said It would not let me until someone else had outbid me!!! >>
I think the system will let you enter a new max bid but it has to be 2 bid increments over your previous max bid. Using your example, you would have had to have bid $320 instead of $300 for the new max bid to be accepted.

As for sniping , I do it on expensive coins that I am determined to win .
The auction is no different than any other in one regard- if two people place high max. bids early in the auction thinking the cards will fall where they may
......then they run up each others bids. Where as a snipe might prevent that .
Also there's " temporary ownership/winning the lot " syndrome ; sometimes I throw a bid on a coin and think I might win it at that particular level,
it feels good to think I might win the coin, and I bid on it and for awhile I am winning it ...........
and least we forget that active bidding on a coin ( vs. just letting it sit until the last ten seconds ) sometimes induces others to bid whereas they might
not have in the first place -
many a time at a show , somebody wants to buy a coin that there was little interest in , then suddenly others want it too

That's what I do.
Trouble is...... many times my max isn't a winner. Somebody's always got an extra couple of bucks to make the deal.

and then, I put some lowball bids on some
and if there is something I really want - I try to place my max bid in last minute, hopefully 4 or 5 bids above current
funny thing is, there is less and less that I really want on Teletrade
