Lost shipment to PSA

I send a collection of 238 Rose cards to PSA by registered mail, the most secure way to send it, they lose it! I am still in complete shock, a group of cards that had many cards to fill holes in my registry, I do not know what to do, anyone experience this before?

who lost it, PSA or the Postal Service?

Usually, things are insured when Registered, so if it was the USPS, you should have some recompense against them.

How are you sure the shipment is lost?

But regardless, you're not giving us enough info to comment on.
Was it lost in transit? Regis. mail can take weeks sometimes. Did you contact PO and ask them to track it internally? Or did you ask PSA to put a tracer on it?
If you know PSA got it, did you call them? Did they have it, then lost it? Did you check if the order was logged in? Is it just being processed? Is there a problem with the order that's holding it up? I can't imagine a 238-card order walking out of the facility.

I can almost guarantee it isn't lost...misplaced maybe, but not lost. Registered Mail madates that every person who touches your parcel/box/whatever, MUST sign for the piece from A to B, no exceptions. The post office should be able to easily track the point where the item went missing. I would call the postmaster where you dropped off the box and let him do some leg work for you. They should also be able to provide you signatures of everybody who touched the piece...i.e. if Mary Jones signed for it in Newport Beach, CA and there are no sigs from PSA, then Mary Jones needs to do some splainin. There are very serious consequences for losing a Registered Piece.

My guess...it's in PSA somewhere.

Good luck getting any insurance money from the post office....

From my personal experience, the post office is fast to take your "insurance" money, but then when it comes time to pay out, good luck trying to prove what was in the package!!!

I once had a claim against the post office and it went on for almost six months, until I had enough and got a lawyer friend of mine, and after that it took them two weeks to pay out

See, that is what I don't get. If they take your money, why do you need to prove what was in the package? Makes no sense.

Heck, I'm still waiting to receive a registered package which was logged in in New York on March 3rd. That's the only information the USPS has available on their website. The sender has started an inquiry, but we're told it could take 8-12 weeks for resolution.

Thats the whole insurance game. As with any insurance - life, home, car...... they have their tricks to not pay out. They will find the smallest thing to try and prevent them from writting a check out to you.

I had to get two people that knew what I had in that package and have them write a statement, let them sign it, then I sign it with another witness, then go down to the Notary Public and have them read over and sign and then provide a price book to prove current market value, and a couple of other things i'm sure, can't remember right now, it was a while back.

Unless you know somebody who can help you out, its hard to collect. Then if you go to a lawyer on your own, of course this is going to cost you money, maybe even more than what the cards are worth. Best way to go it a friend lawyer, if you have one available.

I believe it was usps registered mail, but it was so long ago and can't remember exactly. I gotta dig around and see if I can find everything, could be in my file cabinet...

Kneel, one more question... when did this happen? 2006, 7, 8, 9? I searched google and see lots of complaints about lost packages of all kinds between 2006 to 2008, but not as much after that, so maybe registered mail improved itself a bit.

Its really hard, but if he plays his cards right and is able to provide whatever they ask, he should be fine. He's going to be dealing with the Postal Police and thats no fun at all...

In case you missed my post on the first page of this thread, the OP stated in a different thread on the BST forum that his package did in fact arrive at PSA. I don't think he realized Registered Mail take for-effing-ever to arrive at it's destination.

Be nice if the OP mentioned that here (that it arrived) and IMO if he had a little patience too.

Registered mail can take 2 weeks or more to get from point A to point B.

I actually read the thread on BST and I'm completely confused. Is the OP selling cards that have not been graded yet; because it kind of goes like this if I'm understanding this all. My registered package to PSA is lost...Lost by USPS...PSA...WHO?

Then it seems he's selling his doubles of Pete Rose cards. Someone says they may not be doubles because the package was lost. The OP then says the package was delivered to Newport Beach on the 18th.--So they're obviously not graded yet.

So this begs another question-- "What does the lost package have to do with the the cards he's selling and why wasn't the package being found posted on this thread?

Is anyone else lost on this whole scenerio?
