Blue Book Third Edition / Fourth Edition cover

I found an early Blue Book by Yeoman in a flea market. On the cover, it has both "Third Edition" and "Fourth Edition". Is this normal for this edition?

    I'ts a somewhat scarce overprint.

The third edition had several color variations and the fourth edition has a few as well.

You'll maximize its value by sending it to PBBGS.

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't think I understand. What is PBBGS and why should I send it there?

:-) Airplanenut was joking... PBBGS = "Professional Blue Book Grading Service" (there's no such animal, really)

In the back of the Guide Book of United States Coins (the "Red Book") there's an appendix on collectible Red Books and Blue Books.

You might also try Frank Colletti's Guide Book of the Official Red Book of United States Coins, which includes information on Blue Books.

Both of these references can be borrowed for free from the American Numismatic Association library if you're a member.
