Why not? It's his card, he can ask anything he wants for it.

Totally homogeneous message boards can get pretty boring pretty quick.

While I prefer living in locations where everybody looks and thinks and acts
like I do, diversity on the internet - separated by hundreds/thousands of
miles of cables - is a more interesting thing. Sometimes I win/lose the

Let's start a thread about an Ebay seller charging too much for postage. We haven't had one of those in a long time. Maybe Dr. Lou can start that!?

Yes...why dont I just list a card, and then pay the buyer $5 for the priviledge of shipping a card to him/her?? Will that help my DSR stars any?
  • AlbertdiditAlbertdidit Posts: 560 ✭✭✭
I have a perfect explanation - I think the guy was looking in a price guide and saw the price of the 55 by mistake instead of the 65 - Got his #'s mixed up. makes sense lol

No way bro, I like the threads about sellers asking to much for a card... when searching on ebay It's so very rare to see a overpriced buy it now, BUT it does happen.. these guys need to be called out and this board is the perfect place for it. Kudos Dr. Lou

Agreed. Just the other day I saw an 86 Donruss Canseco for $35!!!!! I wish I had the time to start a thread, but after contacting the seller to see if it was a mistake, calling Beckett to see if the card had gone up, calling ebay to report the overpricing, calling the Better Business Bureau to report the seller, and calling the police, FBI and USPS to report a potential scam, the day just got away from me. Heavens!

  • It wasn't a buy-it-now, it was an auction, guy thought more than 1 person would be bidding on it! Since this thread is pretty much off-track, "sidepockets" name reminded me of a new food product that has just come out, have you guys tried these? Some times I eat hot pockets to work but I might transition to these if they are any good:

    DR.Lou

Actually it was an auction with a buy it now from what I recall.

How else can you explain the "or price of 2,500.00?

In any event I'll try to answer your question which was 'WHY"

Why? I dunno, maybe he wanted that amount to part with his treasure, maybe he was ignorant of the actual retail value, or
maybe he was fishing for a sucker and knew very well what the goin rate was, maybe he felt the stars were aligned and someone
like you would start a thread here about it and elicit all these replies, maybe his wife yelled at him to get rid of all those cards
that he has been buying since 1988 (even after he told her they were sitting on a goldmine) and decided that he would show her and list the card at
the price that he did, and then showed her his listing and she started thinking Bermuda vacation, maybe the stars were not aligned and he is just some jerk.

Maybe someone will chime in and tell me what table to go to.

    Steve

    Good for you.

    a few observations

    1) That is an awesome Clemente. I'm gonna see if he'll take $1200 to end the auction

    2) DrLou is on crack

    3) Those hot pockets should come with an extra strength Tums in the middle, gross

    4) I'd still eat an entire box

edited to change "a couple" to "a few". Don't want one of the grammar nazis to come over the top.
  • you are right about this board its totally inane. Its not even a sportscard board any more.

Its become who is the best golfer, beer drinker, nose picker, what do you do for a living, how many times do you fart each day?

The next thread will be who is the influential baseball card dealer is Harris county texas or the most infuential landscaper in Nassau county.

If you're interested in the card, be sure to ask if there's been any previous water damage. He doesn't clearly list it in the auction, but it may be there.

I've actually tried those. Got to be one of the nastiest things I've ever eaten.
  • I want to thank everyone who brought this card to my attention, talked to the seller and he said wow it should have said 15.00 starting bid and 25.00 BIN, so we agreed on 20.00 Dlvd, and the 65 Mantle & Joe Morgan both graded PSA 6.5 for 80.00 bucks dlvd, and I don't have to pay until I get the cards. Ebay is great. Something about him being an executor and was just in a big hurry to unload the cards ( to pay those blood sucking lawyers) and said as a bonus he would throw in a 52 topps # 406 & 407 for 5.00 bucks each, since these were not graded yet. an some old beat up 33 goodeys ( no babe ruths but some Herman Ruths) 119 cards for 100 bucks + some hotpockets. I LOVE Ebay. image

PS: # 1 Location, Location, Location.
#2 Talk and talk and alot of arse kissing.

Thanks to all and will show some pics of that old overpriced cardboard. Now lets talk about that high shipping sellers want, all shipping should be Free, no matter how heavy that 87 topps wax case is. Wowser as Madonna would say I feel like a Virgin.

Maybe if it was one of you posters here with a million posts and been here for years, maybe then will this question be ok??? I think you would be, so why not now? The original poster doesn't have enough posts or hasn't been here long enough? Could it be it doesn't go along on the "wave" that some of you jump on? You know the wave I mean, the one where one poster says something negative and then to fit in yourself you say the same thing, you know that wave i'm talking about? Why do some of you do this? Do you feel you will not fit in if you don't jump in and attack somebody simply because two or three people might not like a particular board memeber? Do you feel the need to add one more person that doesn't like him because the other three don't? Do you want to fit in that badly? Hasn't anybody taken a psychology class here? image

Why not answer EVERYBODYS question, why only the question of your "friends"? Shouldn't you as a productive member of this forum answer all questions equal? If not, then why don't you just skip the question? Why MUST you post? To raise the number of your posts? Because you surely wouldn't have a problem if your friend was asking this question, so why have a problem now? What, because one or two people don't like DrLou? Then another and another and another, just because you want to be part of the wave or the group?

No, Gio. Just like you, the OP is a multiply banned alt who doesn't have the good sense and grace to GTFO of a place he's clearly not wanted. What is it with you two, anyway? What is it that drives you to stick around a board where you've worn your welcome out a loooong time ago?

<< <i>Do you want to fit in that badly? >>

One could ask the same of you - again, why do you keep coming to a place that clearly doesn't want you?

    << <i>Why MUST you post? >>

Look in the mirror and ask yourself the same thing, Gio - again, you're fooling nobody here.
