Technical question about surface wear

When a particular coin series undergoes a metal content change, (like say the IHC, or war nicks, etc.), how much does this variable play in technical grading?

Or does it have no effect at all?

    Would not effect the grading aspect, IMO.

    I've never seen any grading guidelines change for it, if that's what you're asking. If you're asking whether the tendency of the coins to take on circulation wear could be affected, sure it can. Just look to the coins that have gone the change from [soft] silver to [hard] clad for that one...

    Grading should not change, the effect of wear may change as mentioned above harder metals show wear slower.
