Missing The Reeded Edge Dime

I was wondering about a 1959-D Roosevelt dime that is smooth around the rim.
I recently removed rolls of dimes from paper rolls and put them in plastic tubes and thats when i spotted it.
I realize that someone could have modified the coin but if it's not modified,is this a scarce item?

From my standpoint, the edge reeding is the first thing to go bye bye when a coin is used in a slot machine or coin vending machine.

This is more than likely what occured with your dime.

The other alternative would have be a very weakly struck coin.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
