So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
Even if you don't plan to sell, for insurance purposes and item like this (assumed genuine) would be worth getting authenticated. Agree with others that you shouldn't give up the fight if you know it's legit.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.

So many questions can be answered there and ya can do it all by yourself.

*edit to add- Cool ball. Hope it turns out well for you. I'd definately get it authenticated.
<< <i>The main question was just asking whether it was worth sending to a 3rd party authenticator >>
IMO it is well worth sending it / having it authenticated.
Just because a few jamokes (you know who you are) on a message board advised against it, should not be the reason for not
trying to have it authenticated. If it was mine ( a message board jamoke btw) I'd at the least get a PSA/DNA quick
opinion. I'd also try to get it authenticated in person if possible. I would not just throw in the towel.
Who knows, PSA/DNA may in fact have an example on file.

Any ideas on who to contact if I were to go that route? >>
I wouldn't matter. The hobby wouldn't accept them.
Someday get in a Pujols autograph line and ask him if he remembers signing it. Maybe he'd document it.
