If my coins do not get the +

BearBear Posts: 18,953 ✭✭✭
Then they go back for the bean. When it is time to sell, the + as well as the bean

will be the mark of quality. Now, If I could get a + and a Gold bean on the same slab

that would be a true collectors coin.I would never crack that puppy out.

No grades on the six you sent yet?

I have to admit Bear, whenever you post something (especially this) it reminds me of Haiku. Doesn't have the right number of syllables, but damned if my mind doesn't read it like a haiku.

Yes all 6 were green beans and truly superior coins. Only the 1918 Seated Liberty Quarter MS-65FH
received the +, the rest did not and are on their way to CAC to be rebeaned.I intend to send in two
more SL Quarters FH for the illusive +. I almost feel lucky to have receive even one +.

That depends on when the time to sell is. Could be that by then the + and bean will be relics of a bygone age and the only true mark of excellence will be a pulsating, motion-sensing, Tibetian throat-singing hemi-orb affixed to the holder, color yet to be determined.

If I can con someone into photographing the coins

you will be stunned at the absolute beauty of the

coins that did not make the cut. The Capped Bust Half

in MS-64 has full struck stars, sharp hear, scary sharp talons,

absolutely original surfaces with an even medium silver gray

with full luster underneath.Full sharp hair and eagle feathers.

I do not see what more can be asked of a 64 grade, but I guess

that PCGS knows better then I and so I shall muffle my cries of

agony , dispair and emotional trauma.

PCGS probably wants a little more "cowbell" (ie blast of a 65 coin). They are sticklers on orig surfaced/toned coins that have just slightly muted luster. Sadly, if the coin were dipped, it might have a better chance of getting the +. Then again, we've all known how scarce 64+ and 65+ bust halves are. 90% of the ones that meet that strict definition reside in TPG 65 and 66 holders respectively.

Yet to be determined, as I'm currently in licensing negotiations with the throat-singer, but it will be worth it. Meanwhile, there's a link in my sig that explains how to con me into taking photos.

...if your coins don't get a plus sign, you'll still be a favorite, and that's a plus.
  • MadMartyMadMarty Posts: 16,697 ✭✭✭
The way you are sending your coins in for beans, then plus's and if they fail back for beans, the government should give you and award for the Bear Stimulis Plan!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

    Did someone say Haiku?

I know the coins you buy Bear - you don't need pluses or stickers - just send them along and a check will be forthcoming image

Hey Mike, you are buying COINS? You mean you actually look at coins and buy what you see through the plastic?? LOL I knew that already.

Every time I crave a (+) or a bean I have to wonder if my parents praised me enough when I was a kid.... image

I think as long as one maintains a tight submission trail with the original NGC/PCGS cert numbers, I would think that evidence can be presented back to CAC to help ensure that the coins get reCAC'd again. Of course, it's always there prerogative to decline recertifying a coin they have changed their mind on. Same thing can happen with Secure Plus+....PCGS can change their mind as well.

Not that I have any notion of the syllabic structure of haiku, but Bear's posts do have a certain haikulike or poetic quality.

    It might have something

    to do with
