Fake patches in auction

FCB thread

I cannot view video at work but I do know this 2005 release is often faked.
Cards say Jersey and the scammer will put a fake patch in it. I was going to link the site FakePatchReport which has numerous pics of these fakes, but the site is parked.

what's worse.... that people pull scams like this, HA selling them, or PSA encasing them?
  • Just to clarify, and I'm sure anybody familiar with Heritage will back me up on this, but whoever attributed this story to Heritage is completely mistaken. Check our Permanent Auction Archives and you'll see we don't sell modern cards. We don't sell jersey cards. And we have never, ever sold cards at shows. We are a vintage sports collectibles auctioneer. Note that the Youtube video in the FCB thread is entitled "Huggins and Scott." Now, I am not accusing them--I have no idea whose cards are in the video, and know nothing on the topic because Heritage doesn't deal in this manner of material, but again, this is not Heritage Auctions. Thanks.

Wow, that dude is like ten douche bags rolled into one... lol

He's gonna be ticked when he finally realizes all of his cards are fake. I'm so glad I never bought into the whole jersey/bat/patch thing. I always sell them faster than I pull them from packs.

Please accept my sincere apologies for this error. I accidentally typed the wrong auction house. Big difference. Again, Sorry.

Do you have cards of upcoming auctions for viewing at shows?

The video was shot by some barefoot guy in his kitchen with the cards laid out on the table and his TV blaring from the living room. You thought that was Heritage's table? LOL!(?)

No. A member on FCB stated those known to be fake cards (in the video) were on a Heritage table (for future auction viewing) at a csa show.

Ah, ok, I'm sorry. My turn to look like the donkey.

  • Apology accepted, thanks. We do, on occasion, exhibit cards from upcoming auctions at shows, though definitely not cards like these. And, while we're on the topic, I should mention that Heritage is currently accepting consignments for an auction which will display ALL offerings at the National in Baltimore in August. The auction will be about 100 lots, only material valued in excess of $10,000. The auction will be held Live at the Babe Ruth Museum during the National, and Heritage will have its usual huge corporate booth, with all 100 (+/-) lots on display. There will be tons of press, of course. It's honestly going to be the best consignment opportunity of 2010, with HUGE visibility. So if any board members are interested, feel free to contact me directly. Thanks, and thanks again for the retraction to the faulty "Patch-gate" story.

  • I copied this from another board (1st link in OP). I contacted the source and he didn't sound too sure about his info. I'll ask him to correct his FCB title.
