Sometimes buying raw works out. Most old gold I see offered is either cleaned, scratched, ex-jewelry or otherwise damaged. The 1842 $2.50 below graded at only F12 but is a scarce date in any condition. Asking the seller questions, gauging their responses, examining their feedback and factoring in their return policy sometimes makes ebay raw roulette worth the gamble.

Every coin now in a holder was raw at one time not that long ago. If you choose to limit your risk by only buying TPG graded coins, that's OK, but you have to realize that those getting the best deals in the hobby, whether for resale or collection building, are personally good at grading and are buying raw coins to send to TPGs for holdering.
He has that three legger on ebay right now. No mention of a fingerprint. No mention of dipping it. He just mentions that it was in an NGC slab, but he cracked it out because he felt it might upgrade. Complete lie of why he cracked it out.
at least an honest con-man who warned us earlier in this thread (I am guessing he is talking about his alter egos auction)->
<< Just what is the point of the thread?
Is the point that your opinion is correct and everyother persons opinion is wrong? You need a little more "Coin Time" under your belt before you can convince other people that have 30, 40 and 50 years "Coin Time" under their belt that your opinion is correct.

No, Ken, the point is is to bring awareness again about this issue plaguing eBay and the coin community in general. Frauds, deception, misttatements on listings, etc.
Thanks!

This kid is a legend... in his own mind! Daddy owns a Ferrari, Bentley exotic car dealership in CT. Baby boy gets shuffled off to school in Scotland. Sounds like Ricky Schroeder in Silver Spoons!
