Am I dreaming or are Early Commemoratives finally on the move?

Seems like dealer inventories are low and they sold well at the recent Heritage auction. Could the ten year drought be over???------------BigE

    My guess is still no. It might just be that dealers are having a difficult time selling them, and equally don't want to be buying them.
    This is just a wild hypothesis since I don't know the series, but maybe they really are on an upside!

    I just bought a couple raw early commemoratives off ebay at very good prices, so I'm thinking if they're "on the move," it must be down.

    This is why I'm thinking of putting a set together. I mean, they are awfully cheap coins right now...

    I followed the Heritage auction last night online, and it seemed to me to be a bloodbath... Vancouver PCGS 65 for $631, Roanoke PCGS 67 also with pretty toning $ 631 or something like that.... and then there are the super color coins, Grant NGC65 with some pastels, over 2K...
    Lots of the coins reached new lows, so I dont think this market is recovering.

    The other Vancouver in PCGS 65 went for $920. Big difference in price for Vancouvers with same grade.

    Excluding wildly toned coins, prices for early commems are still very soft.

    I've heard that, off and on, for roughly the past 20 yearsimage But i don't really mind that they're quiet. I think they make for great collectible coins or sets, due to their varied designs, history and affordability. I am also a lot more comfortable buying them at these levels than I am a number of other coin types.

    It seems as though every year or so they will hint that they are getting ready to start moving up. But then they quickly return to their usual flat levels.

    I dont see any good stuff around anymore especially on Heritage.
