Why Not Two Pluses on a Slab?

This is a serious question. If one plus is top 10%, how about two pluses for top 1%?

My guess is that the answer will be something along the lines of why a 69 cannot get a plus. There is only so thin that the graders can slice the grade, with any semblance of consistency, and this would push the envelope far more than is feasible. I personally am already concerned that we are pushing to far.

Observe the following potential ranking of PCGS MS-65 1893-S Morgan:

    1. PCGS MS-65 1893-S Morgan
    2. PCGS MS-65 CAC (green) 1893-S Morgan
    3. PCGS MS-65 Plus 1893-S Morgan
    4. PCGS MS-65 Plus CAC (green) 1893-S Morgan
    5. PCGS MS-65 Plus CAC (gold) 1893-S Morgan
    6. PCGS MS-65 CAC (gold) 1893-S Morgan

I thought about that, and here is my rationale:

A gold sticker implies a lock upgrade. A Plus implies a coin that is strong for the grade but not an upgrade. The two are in conflict, to a degree, and the Plus holds the coin back. Additionally, most (? all) gold stickers have only thus far been seen on coins that have not had the Secure Plus service level.

Wait 5 years for their revenue stream to dictate another move.

All of this reminds me of the old Wendy's ads satirizing Soviet swimwear.

Naw. Because a 1% slice of any set of coins is too small a set of coins to warrant a whole column in the price sheets.
It appears easy to add an extra dimension by adding a grading option like this. But extra dimensions need to be worthwhile. And thus careful thought is required.

    I'll second that ugh...
