With all due respect to PCGS, we grew up in this business trained to grade only one way using the system that has been in place for well over 25 years. We just can't stop and change overnight into a confusing 700 point scale. Until we learn the new system and really understand it, Legend will continue dealing the way it always has (looking for the BEST coin in holders) and ALL COINS WILL HAVE CAC STICKERS THAT ARE SOLD BY US. As far as we know, the new + service will NOT effect how CAC stickers coins."
It was just a matter of seconds before this would happen. Pcgs gave the + when it might not neccesarily deserve it (but of course its all opinions anyway) while coins that might deserve the + (in laura's opinion- and while all us weenies may not like her, we have to admit, she does have an incredible eye for grading) did not get it, but do get a cac sticker.
my time at #1 was short, but sweet. Looks like "Simpson" bought the "Law Collection" so now I'll be back to #2 on the capped bust half dimes registry. I hope the new owner makes an effort to post photos instead of just numbers.

Since there will be disagreement among the various expert parties about why a coin did or did not get a plus, perhaps a written explanation that can be viewed thru the cert # verification lookup might be in order.
I like her honesty about what she saw and felt. Sounds like many dealers were waiting to hear about the BIG ONE.
Me, I'm not ready to trust PCGS. I like the confort and unbiased opinion the CAC sticker gives me. I am a good grader, but theres too much I do not know.
Did she call us weenies? Aren't they something you roast? I'm going to start calling her queenie!
Good save Joebb! Seems like the powers to be here are flipping out again.

If she thinks she knows which coins should and should not have a +, then she must not be so be confused. She just doesn't like the grading. Right?
Edited to add that I have no opinion about the grading yet. I have not seen enough of the newly graded coins.

A good report, as usual, from Laura - I like anyone who gives their opinion, whether I may agree with it or not. As for the dreck issue, for some reason people say that this word is "elitist". It is not. A drecky coin is a coin that is not nice for its grade, and a coin that a picky collector will not want. It has nothing to do with the dollar value, and everything to do with quality. If you don't like a coin being called 'dreck', you can substitue 'dog'. Some coins are dogs, plain and simple, and their is nothing elitist about calling them what they are.
Awright fellers, lets try this again. Every time Laura post her Sunday report, some of you brothers go off on a frenzy about what she has to say.
Dreck is low eye appeal for the grade, nothing more. Dreck runs the gamut of grades from poor 01 to MS. It's everywhere in coin shows. She is just challenging you to go for eye appeal in whatever grade you choose to collect in and not let price be the common denomimator when you buy a coin.

Finally something I can agree with Laura on.
Yes I know its a repeat quote but I just had to say it myself.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
I have found that dealers are not so different from collectors when it comes to having our coins sent for grading. When we get the grades we were hoping for all is well with the world and the TPGs are the greatest thing since instant coffee.
However, when we do not get the grades we were hoping for, then the TP graders don't know what they are doing are inconsistent and are a bunch of dummies.I have seen graded coins I liked and coins the same grade I did not like. As for the new PLUS grading system, it is new, it is something that needs time to develop and yes, we will continue to complain about the grading for that is what the human nature is disposed to do. It helps to dissipate the angst.
Interesting reading - thanks for posting it. Looking forward to seeing the (+) coins at Central States.
