Could this 1932 quarter get a + sign

Does this quarter have enough eye appeal to receive a + sign.

<< <i>How would anyone know the answer to that? >>
i think no, it looks average to me. Plus why would it matter if it has a + on it? Just get a CAC sticker for $10....

To me, that coin would deserve a negative. No eye appeal at all.
Toning can be very unattractive on everything except Morgans.

<< <i>From what I understand, the + is for PQ coins for the grade, not eye appeal. >>
I agree
<< <i>The + from PCGS is like the star from ngc, is it not? >>
No, the NGC * is for eye appeal. The PCGS + is for high end for the grade.

...with eye appeal as a factor.

Why do you edit all of your replies and comments?
I have seen this many times over the last 3 months and I'm curious- since many here find you to be so precise and logical with your input.
Do you misspell many words? Or review what you may have said and need to edit out quickly to avoid sarcastic comments from others.
I understand that you are supposed to be top notch when it comes to knowledge of coins and grading (but pictures do not tell the whole story now do they) but yet several of your posts are edited.
Why not let your thoughts go with the original flow and let the chips fall where they may?
granted the coin is greatly enlarged which makes even
the most minute flaws seem more pronounced than in hand.
However, having had hours to further scrutinize it since my
initial post, .... in lieu of the tics on the face (focal area) and
now noticing the hit on his wing, my honest OPINION IS that
despite pleasing aesthetics it is maxed-graded and will not
get a + designation. I actually hope I'm wrong though.
Still, it doesn't hurt to try & if you do try I wish you the best of Luck.
JMHO - FWIW!
<< <i>Edited/deleted, as my previous comment was based on the thought that the coin was graded lower than it actually is.

I don't edit anywhere close to all of my replies and comments. Why did you choose to exaggerate so greatly?
Yes, I misspell words on occasion, and sometimes I review my posts in order to try to make them clearer and/or more thorough. I have no concerns about sarcastic comments from others.
In this thread I edited my previous post because, as I already stated, my original comment was based on having thought the coin's current grade was lower than it actually is. So, I had replied to another poster and commented that I wasn't s sure the coin didn't have a shot (for a plus designation). Under the circumstances, it wouldn't have made sense to, as you suggest "let the chips fall where they may".

I'm not one to quibble, but technically you do edit your posts as if you are not reading or maybe you 'skim' the topic like a moderator would do to see if things are going ok.- I have seen this many many times like I stated over the last 3 months. Say what you feel without the edit.
and I don't need to exaggerate on what I read, it is there for all of us to see!
Now, Mr. Feld edits too many of his posts?
FWIW, I too think the '32 may be max graded as is. But wish you luck if you try for it...

I never noticed Mark's edits. It does not bother me. Does anyone recall what othergrading systems say about the use of a "+" sign?
I vaguely recall the A.N.A. mentioning the use of these kind of add-on signs to a grade in thier book but don't recall what the opinon was and my copy of the book is packed away for now because or some painting going on in my house. I awlays remove my coin library and so on from my shelves when I have workers and others in. And my copy is peobebly 30 some years old with grey and..red or blue hard cover?
Best,
Eric
The coin is very pleasant and will sell for a premium. If you crack it out, it may get an MS66 "+" or an MS65 "+" or stay the same grade. You have a big downside though. If the coin does not come back plus, you will lose the incentive for an upgrader to pay more since the label will have the shield. In addition, you may end up having an MS65+ where it will be locked in that grade for all eternity. Or, it will stay the same grade with the shield, again locked in that grade for all eternity. Your gamble is 1 out of 4.

Probably looks nicer in hand.
