Anyone see any hint of a 3 on this possible 23-S SLQ?

Here's hoping:

I got it for around $2 at a pawn shop.

1923-S SLQ on eBay that kind of looks like the one I have. Any thoughts?

You do know that I'm referring to it being a 1923-S, right?

    Any other opinions out there?

...i think it needs a drink of nic-a-date.image

I think I see what you think you see, but that could be the eye finding a pattern in the dirt and grime rather than a digit of the date. If it were my coin I'd grab a photo of a 1923-S from Heritage or eBay and try to overlay it on the photos of your coin, by 1923 the date position did not change die to die and you should be able to make a determination yes or no.

....you may be correct. perhaps there is something that would work as well for quarters, i don't know.

  • Here's an eBay auction with a 1923-S. I can't overlay the two pictures, or that's what I think. Anyone see the similarities?

....i think you'll need a higher grade coin with more detail to overlay to check it out.

I believe what you are interpreting to possibly be a 3 is too far to the right to be an actual mint made 3.

  • Alright, here's the date of one on Heritage. (Don't know if I did this right.)

  • TomB, I just saw your post.

Oh well, that was fun while it lasted. I'll keep looking at it, though. image

  • YUp, definitely not a 23-S. Thanks TomB and everyone else.
