If you are going to give + then you should also give -

If you only give (+) designation without assigning submitted coins a potential (-) then you have in fact CREATED grade inflation.

    Not really.

Remember that PCGS was created for and is still focused on Coin Dealers.
Coin Dealers are constantly looking for coins that are PQ for the grade so the plus fits right in.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

I just don't like the fact that as soon as a coin is graded within the "Secure Plus" system, it is either branded PQ (which may or may not be true), or "LQ" (by the omission of the plus) thus removing both the seller's and the buyer's input and validity thereof.

What really would be the point of having a "-"? IMO if you had a coin that had a negative sign on it after the numerical grade I would not want to buy it from you. It is called perception, and negatives hurt positive perception abot something. The "+" is just saying that the coin is PQ, gradeflation is some one sending a coin in 20 times and the 20th time it finally gets the point higher grade. The other 19 times it got the same grade as it did when it was first graded.

I don't see why or how that would remove the buyer's or seller's input anymore than a grade currently does. It will be an opinion to be agreed or disagreed with, and buyers and sellers will continue to think and act as they choose.

    But still, the perception looms...
