What if

If PCGS goes to the addition of the "PQ" or something like that, will you be resubmitting older holder coins that you don't plan to sell anytime soon? It just seems like a waste to submit coins you already own. What do you guys think?
Sorry if this has been brought up already.

  • I can't imagine I will be re-submitting anything whatever the new plan is.image I'll just go with it as it grows.

Not a chance. I too will just go with the flow.

With the new code all the current holders will turn into the old holders.
Will people shortly be paying more for the 16 digit holders?

A larger holder will certainly make the coin worth more. image

If PCGS does do a PQ
If the price sheets reflect a major price jump
If I have the money to spend

Then yes, I will certainly consider it.

There is an another question to go with what you are asking, but it is a poof-able discussion topic.

I will not consider it. Would rather get out of the coin biz for awhile until the artificial dust clears if that would happen.

It could be viewed by many as a an attempt to emulate DQ, which has done so well over the years.

DQ offers a dip option, not so sure if that would be an additional service offered with a PQ program.

  • I am sure the big one will be that pcgs is going to designate PQ on the holder however IMO that ship already left port. We already have CAC and its very clear that CAC coins do bring more at auction then non CAC coins. Ngc also has that niftly little star for eye appeal, usually star coins sell for a bit mroe then non star coins. Now pcgs is going to add a neat little PQ designation to the holder and IMO will mean nothing. Pcgs already wont cross all NGC coins With a CAC sticker, Ngc wont cross all PCGS coins, now PCGS is jsut going to add another (sticker, star, PQ) type thing to generate revenue and cause people to resubmit there coins. IMO its another PCGS gimmick . Advanced collectors already know what a coin needs to be in order to pull top dollar, some coins need to be in PCGS holders for them to even get close to top dollar ( MPL lincolns for one) Other coins need CAC stickers to pull top dollar ( High end type usually, just an example) Some collectors only buy CAC coins, others NGC star, Others toned, others untoned, Its just another money maker.

Wow Bear! That's something to consider for sure but do you think people would buy into price increases for splitting hairs within a specific grade. Spending more for a nice coin is one thing but making a "price guide" showing this is another. What would we think if there was a price guide with CAC and not CAC'd. Very interesting though.

They just recieved my lastest submission today........I wonder if it will fall under the great big anouncement. Didn't the old green lable PCI coins have a PQ designation?

I will not resubmit to PCGS in hopes of garnering the PQ label, too expensive, and too much of a crapshoot. I am just fine with my green beans on my PCGS holdered coins. Honestly, if PCGS goes to this PQ label, I will feel they let down the collectors.

Used to seem, just the PCGS holder meant a coin was generally PQ for the grade, compared to coins of that numerical grade in any other company's holder. Has that changed?

Even if I believe that my box of 20 collection are all PQ,

It would be nice to have that opinion validated by PCGS.
