Who is going to benefit from the "Big One" ?

Was it “Big Bang”, Big Deal”, oh yea I remember the “BIG One”. I’m hoping that PCGS starting from the top will reevaluate their inconsistent grading mythology. Receiving grades that are consistent with lets say three years ago is non-existent. I cannot and will not believe that directives from the top have been given to graders to “tighten the belts” when it comes to giving grades. I also believe this was not a casual directive that was put forth as a mere suggestion or recommendation. My guess is that it was deliberate tactics to further minimize any potential risk for them at the expense of their paying customer base. In my polls with some heavy hitting customers they are voicing that their (PCGS) now grading at such an extreme that it is starting to become impractical to send in bulk quantities of coins because of lack of returns. Now these are people that have been doing this for years and years that are becoming totally frustrated.
My hope for the “Big One” is that starting from the top they start taking care of all the small things. Can you imagine them (PCGS) taking on a “BIG One” when they are sightless as to what keeps them in business in the first place.
You better believe the “Big One” is a just another revenue gimmick that enhances or maintains their profit because they can’t see the erosion of their own customer base.
Maybe the “Big One” they will just come out and say that they are giving 1 grade lower than what you deserve. At least they would be saying something honest and everyone would know where they stand.
I want to say that PCGS's Customer Service Department is OUTSTANDING!

Do you want to be right or happy?

Its like a twilight zone episode - since nobody knows what the Big One is , we all project fear onto our neighbors. Since we are programmed to think zero-sum game, we fear change .

    Its irrational.

What if ":the big one" is beneficial to the coin market at gets rid of some of the scum that make it "riskyy". ??

Anyone with inside information who chooses to use it.
There is no "AT" or "NT". We only have "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable.

If they nuke the thread its only that I got to close to the truth for them (PCGS top guns) to handle.
I truly hope there is something positive for us, their customers, but at what cost and what gain for them.
What is the chance that that will be spelled out in the grand announcement. I have heard some use Steve Jobs as an analogy for the "Big ONE", well you can bet Steve has not forgotten his roots and his assembly lines don't veer off course. Steve is consistent, AND YES HE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE HIS STOCK HOLDERS HAPPY AND THATS BY NOT FORGETTING ABOUT HIS CUSTOMERS!

To my knowledge, PCGS has never invited us or included us in their meetings concerning this place and PCGS. But yet, there are many here who believe they are actually apart of the process. And when the day comes when they turn out the lights here, which would not surprise me as the BIG ONE, what's everyone's plan after that?

Back to the topic, satisfying shareholders and improving the consistency in grading coins simultaneously is not going to happen. Even if grading fees were raised to $100 economy, it wouldn't work. Who could pay for consistency at that price? Expanding the grading system to include MS66.3 grades or adding minus or plus signs will only make the venture for public interest more confusing. And spending all day guessing on ideas that occurred in some meetings I never was apart of is a bit cynical to me.

So the question has always been, how do we get more people to submit coins? Handing out high grades in hopes of generating more submissions has always been the mainstream for profit/shareholders. But something happened in the last 3 years that tightened up the grading standards and IMO, it has to do with the grade guarantee. Beyond that, I have no idea what lies ahead other than the possibility of a couple of ideas that will rejuvenate people to get their coins graded.

If the "Big One" has to do with tightening the grading standards what becoms of the 100 + PCGS graded coins I already own. 76 of these are 2 over half the Classic Commem series. Another 16 are a second set of BTW commems. Do I take a big loss on the PCGS coins I already own? Will PCGS coins be listed "BBO" and "ABO," Before the Big One and After the Big One? I don't think the powers that be at PCGS would do that to their cutomer base. Like everyome else here on the Forum I will just wait until Thursday to see.

I believe that the "BIG ONE" to be successful, must provide a needed service
for collectors ,as well as be beneficial for the company.

I'm just small potatoes, so my only benefit from the "Big One" will hopefully be from the trickle-down effect caused by all the heavy rollers here discarding their "Big One" affected holdings.
