  • Any thoughts or comments about the coin? Anything jump out to say its fake.....I wasn't able to see any problems with the coin, but then again, I'm not 100% educated in this series..thanks again

It can't be authenticated from those pics but considering that it's heavily worn and has numerous marks it's probably real. I'd pass on this one.

  • Thanks Perry- I actually purchased the coin just to have an example of the $10 Indian Head for my "circulated" gold collection....not to resale or have graded, but just for a decent "old" gold example. I researched and looked at real vs fake examples and thought I would take a shot on it. Everyother $10 Indian Head around here is $675-750 for run of the mill coins, so i thought what the heck!
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks!

It looks as if it's genuine. But I think that with some patience, you could have obtained a (guaranteed genuine) certified one that was as nice or nicer for a similar amount.

At $625, I think he got a good deal. Naturally, a higher grade in a PCGS slab is a worthy goal.

  • thanks for the input! I figured if I were to just purchase a plain jane 1/2oz gold bullion coin, i would spend $600-$625 with no "historical" value. So, I was fine paying what I did for it, but I just was looking for some input as to real vs fake...thanks again guys!
