What's the date of this 191_ D Lincoln cent?
My little sister picked this coin out of the "Free Coins for Kids" dish at the Lincoln Coin Club show yesterday and I thought it was kind of cool. Can anyone guess the date and what may have caused the last digit to be missing?

Hoard the keys.
<< <i>I would say 1916-D but it's a guess.
edit to add: What do you think caused it?

If not, it is probably a 1916-D. Both these dates are notorious for a weak last digit. Your
coin also looks like it may have been a partially filled die (where the incuse area on the die
filled with dirt, grease or debris during production).
