Buy a case of 1990 Topps for a Thomas NNOF?

I love opening wax and see that cases generally sell pretty cheap, but I don't know a lot about baseball so, what exactly am I looking to buy? 1990 Topps Baseball? Any high or low series I should be looking for? Also, it looks as though everything I pull will go to the garbage...but I don't know, is there anything worth holding onto?

Thanks in advance,

Patrick

Im no expert, but I think that card is very limited. In no way are you guaranteed to get one.

Not expecting it. Know it's a very hard pull. Looking to crack wax and get high off twenty year old gum.

I think Griffey in a PSA 10 is low POP, and I am sure other key players are.

Busting wax to "find" a NNOF Thomas is just another exercise in finding something to complain about.

If you're doing it just for the fun of it, then go right ahead, but there's really little justifiable cause to entertain such a notion.

As I recall, it was pretty much a given that the NNOF's were geographical and that, for the most part, any future findings will be the result of typical migration of the product from warehouse to closet to warehouse over the past two decades. I know the predominance of these cards seemed to be in Central to Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio back in 1990 and 1991 and that's where I managed to pick up most of the ones that I traded back then.

bust 1990 topps is kinda boring...

with the new Border breaks -- see NNOF discovery thread -- and the frank thomas , infamous Jeff King, there is a reason too,

but its not an exciting set.

I have vending boxes of this in my house, and I can't even get though all of them...

good luck ., let me know if any border breaks or Jeff kings with yellow tint on the white of the back of the card
    Buying:
Topps White Out (silver) letters Alex Gordon
80 Topps Greg Pryor “No Name"
    90 ProSet Dexter Manley error
90 Topps Jeff King Yellow back
    1958 Topps Pancho Herrera (no“a”)
81 Topps Art Howe (black smear above hat)
    91 D A. Hawkins BC-12 “Pitcher”

how about the george bush card? could that be pulled from a pack.. or was it a promo? i find its cheaper to just buy these needle in haystack cards on ebay.. i also have terrible luck with wax... ive prob thrown away a case of 1990 pro set football series 1 searching for a lombardi holo.. and series 2 searching for a psa 10 emmitt..

Don't bother -- it is a needle in a haystack as they are only in very early print runs, and those boxes are tough to identify/locate. I think a guy in Bunch O Bulls stellar "theory" thread has/had some for sale from that run - he pulled almost all of the variations and posted scans. Don't spend a penny until reading that thread in it's entirety as there are many other variations just as scarce - but only now being recognized.

Why would you say this? Are you not the guy who complains more than any other? So much that you have created an image of "Off The Wall" for being a complainer? I mean, you offer good avice, but preface with an insult.

If this wasn't the case then accept my apology, but I'm pretty sure you took a shot at me.

Nah, you're pretty much on target. Aren't you the one that complained about the Registry, then about the Bossys and then about a couple of sellers and then . . .

The only thing I complain about is the stupidity of those that complain and complain.

No apology necessary as I was criticizing you. Unlike most, I do commend you on the fact that you have above average comprehension skills.

And if I have this "image" as a complainer, that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. However, I really don't give a rat's azz what anyone thinks of me or about me and I'm not here to win anyone over or get pats on the back from others. Hopefully you've figured that out by now.

My guilt lies in speaking my mind and saying things that I'm sure others are thinking but haven't the nerve to post publicly or the necessity to engage with others.

I find some of your threads interesting, but others beyond painful. If you can't see that this is a losing proposition or if you were just looking for attention, that's fine. If you couldn't handle or accept the barb, so be it. But that's just how I am and nothing is going to change that.

Interesting. Some say they don't care about their image, yet they see themselves as a "certain type." Go figure.

As far as the registry, PSA told me certain cards qualified for the player set, then after investing time finding the cards, money on them, and money to have them graded, they come back and say, "no they don't." Obviously one would complain about this. Water under the bridge, but learned a few things about PSA.

I'm not claiming to be anyone or anything. Whatever you wish to see is your choice. I'm not posturing or posing as anyone or anything.

Wasn't it you that complained about the Registry? About the Bossy Registry? About several sellers and their Bossy cards? Weren't you giving up your Bossy collection then a month later were buying more?

At least I'm consistent. The last word is yours...

Yes, they came out of packs. I witnessed several at the old Trolly Station show in Nazareth, PA in early '91...

Without question they came from packs. I'll break down and share some info about them sometime in the future, I'm just not in the mood to argue with some folks so I've been quiet.
