1883/2 shield nickel?
Need help identifying this variety in my recent purchase. Just bought an XF 1883 and noticed the doubling on the date...then noticed the 3 was off so looked it up...I couldn't tell if it was a 3/2 or not. Hoping you guys could help or tell me if there is a DDO variety.

PS sorry for the pic I will try another tomorrow when the sun comes up.

At least you posted an 1883 instead of the usual 1882 with a filled 2.
Note that varieties involving the date of a shield nickel will never be a DDO, since date punches were added after the dies were hubbed. Date varieties are "repunched dates".
Finally, it's hard to tell from your photo, but it is possible there is some kind of variety involving the 3. Can you post an enlarged photo of that digit alone that is well-lit?

<< <i>Here is all the info for the 83/2 shield nickel, I would say if this is one it would be a F-07 S1-5000 or the FS5c-013.3 S1-5004 due to the lack of die breaks on my piece.

No, the date position is all wrong for either F-07 or FS-013.3.

<< <i>tried in better lighting today but my cameras macro function isn't doing well so I'm going to hopefully find a nice macro lens today for it and take a new pic. My biggest thing with the 3 is in the humps on the right side there is an extra piece that isn't attributed to a 3 and doesn't match the doubling to the top and left...you can see it in the pic. So I was thinking it was the part of the 2 coming down that the 3 doesn't cover.
Doesn't look like part of a 2 to me. Photo is still too blurry to be sure, but my best guesses are that this is either strike doubling from the lower part of the 3 or it is a die break.
