Take a look at these pictures and see what you think. I believe it is an S/S. Note the upper part of the underlying S withing the upper loop, the lower part within the lower loop, and part of the underlying S showing to the right of the lower loop. What do you think??

I don't know what to think, hard to have minute die chips in three different offsetting places, so I'd say there is a good chance this might be a S/S

I'd say yes it is an RPM. It isn't in the Cherrypickers guide, but it could be listed somewhere else.

If you need the Hubble Telescope to see it, does it really matter. But it looks like it could be.

Looks like the initial punch was tilted to the right,

The person applying the mintmark realized this, and corrected it.

Applying a mintmark was an acquired trait, a person had to learn how to do it.

You had to hold the punch steady, and it took more than one hit with the anvil to fully impress it.

    I think it's an RPM.

Looks re-punched to me. Whether I can see it without "assistance" or not, - says more about my failing eyesight than the coin.
  • Likely rpm#1
