(Better Pictures added) Opinions on an 1809 Dime

I tried to get some better shots and I think I succeeded, anyway here they are. I am looking to hear your opinions on this dime (specifically grade or net grade). My images are not very good, the color of the obverse more closely matches the reverse photo. Thanks.

AG-3; but that scratch may put in a "genuine" holder @ PCGS.

    F details, scratched.

if the scratch is old and toned/dirt filled, it looks like it would not keep it from grading to me. I assume the gunky looking stuff on the obverse is not corrosion? How about VG-10?

  • fine details but might net out to very good due to scratch or possibly rim wear

Well, I myself have no 1809 dime, so I like it very much, for what it is.

IMO the details are every bit of Fine for the issue, heck the reverse has claims to very fine, the obverse typically weakly struck?

sure it's got a few marks... but they look like contemporary "test marks" to me; I don't mind such marks as much as some people do... some folks are of the opinion "it's scratched, pass" whether it's a new staple scratch or an old cut where a shopkeeper or someone unfamiliar with the "new designs" made sure it was solid silver.

they do detract, I'd net it to a Good 6 as a first offer but would probably compromise at VG8. know what you mean about the color, some of my quick shots in oldfashioned round lightbulb lights turn out yellowish like that.

    edited to add:
would like to see some pictures in shaded sunlight with the white balance set to "outdoor"

New photos are MUCH better. The scratches and marks look old, but they would still keep the coin out of a graded holder IMHO. Easily F+ details...VF on the reverse.
