Classic Commems--The market
Well, this is apparently classic commem day here on the boards. In a recent article posted by HRH, I seem to recall he mentioned he would love to come across a six figure deal for classic commems. He felt that this is an area that remains undervalued. I have also thought this for some time, but there doesn’t seem to be much support for them on price sheets, I’m referring to the greysheet in particular. I understand the immediate response will be that the market remains strong for superior coins. Not everyone buys superior, high end coins. I’m talking about average collector coins; nice MS63/64 coins in the $300 or less range.
When do you think the market will come alive? Will it come alive? Does it really matter because it’s not gold bullion?

a large promotion is not cost effective?
I apologize if this horse has been flogged. If so, I wasn't a part of the thread(s) then.
Here is my set The BigE Collection
It averages 1 COIN ADDED EVERY MONTH FOR 10 YEARS
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
For the average collector, looking at average coins, prices have been weak, and still tend to be weak. Average looking coins can often be had at sheet or slightly back of sheet. During the past ten years or so, classic commems as a group are among the worst price performers. There are also a good many unattractive for the grade coins out on the market, and that continues to depress the sheet prices.
