Where the 2008 W Buffalo roam

Ok.. what's with the outrageous prices for these overrated, overhyped gold pieces that will eventually hit a floor in 3 years or less. 10k pops or less whoopie! I think the 2009 Ultra high Doubles are way overlooked!

universal law of supply and demand.....in both cases.

If you understand what is coming, then you can duck. If not, then you get sucker-punched. - Martin Armstrong

  • Buffalo design is/has always been a very popular design- Single Year issue, low populations and add in the fractionals and you have a winner. Fractionals allow people who would not normally afford gold to afford gold.

Therefore you have everything going for it. Great design, low pops, affordable issue prices for the fractionals and demand... Thus you have pricing going up. I actually think the pricing will hold and continue- I look at this set much differently than the commem low pops-

I am very happy to have sets in Proof and Unc and I buy doubles anytime I can get them priced where I want them... and I will continual to do so

  • SO why did the 2001 silver buffalo get scalped?

I know, I know, I'm upset too that I sold my set a while ago and can't rebuy at my sell prices. There will be other sets/coins to buy in the future that will be just as popular. :-)

why i agree that they may be high, i don't see them "hitting the floor" in 3 or 10 years. there will always be interest and not enough to go around.

as for the 2009 Ultra high Doubles , give it time they will rise some more, if you look at some past sales i think you will see what i mean.

Nobody has these coins in quantity so they can't be mass marketed. The ongoing 1 oz. proof series is only going to add to the allure of the '08W fractionals and unc. coins IMO. It really amazes me to see people continue to fight and complain about one of the greatest gifts ever given to collectors by the U.S. Mint!

The bandwagon is going to roll right along with or without you.

P.S. I wouldn't consider a 400%-500% increase in 2001 Silver Buffalo's from their issue price as being 'scalped'. I wish all my coin transactions received such scalping.

Hey, Hey. What's all this talk about profits? A true collector doesn't care about profits does he?? I say buy high-sell low and enjoy.image

Oh yeah...........lot of room to grow for the UHR.

    Ultra low 114,000 Plus mintage.
Lets see............150 MILLION dollar UHR sales for US Mint.

That is more in sales for UHR than total for all of the 2008-W Proof and Uncirculated Buffalo Gold and 2008-W Platinum combined!!!!

I suggest you mortgage the house and car to buy more UHR.

Can't help thinking the OP is

    a) baiting us for a reaction on an otherwise slow day
    b) trying to unload a boat full of UHRs
    c) is trying to flush out some buff fractionals at a low price

I think you've succeeded with a), but good luck on b) and c)!
