200,000 less but the total number of Proof Presidential coins is still in the millions with only the packaging being different. Given the quality of mint packaging, I would hardly expect that feature to be a "must have".
From Mint News Blog:
"The set (2009 Presidential Proof Set) has sold 627,925 units as of the last available weekly sales report. This is lower than the final reported sales for the 2008 set, which came in at 860,172."
The lower sales figures and the fact that the 2009 were available right along side the 2010's tells me that folks are simply tired of this dual proof set thing that the US Mint has going.
Personally, I think the only folks that actually benefit from this are those dealers which submit bulk to pull in their percentage of PR70DCAM coins to resell to the registry participants.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
2009 Presidential proofs are still available as part of the clad and silver proof sets and those will be on sale until their respective 2010 versions come out (in the July-September timeframe).

They recently issued the 2010 pres only proof sets, so it is their standard procedure to stop sales of the previous year's set.

Oh come on MAN!
You're blowing the Hype all to help!
They're SOLD OUT! Doesn't that mean anything to you!??
I'm just kidding.
