  • Great - The mint is now depending on third party distribution vendors to do Quality Control! image

Based on the original story almost two years ago,
I expected anywhere from a few dozen to many
hundreds of pieces to show up.

As of this date: Zip, Zero, De-nada !!

Not even a hint of one, or a
'I've seen one/heard of one' out there......

In this case it appears that the Mint actually
did catch them and/or prevent them from
    being released.

.....you're probably correct, BUT wouldn't it be nice to see one surface from a pre-occupied collector that for some reason

or another, never checked their rolls of monroe's yet? now that is a possibility for us dreamers, yes? image

....ahhhh, the key words here are "once the irregular coins were spotted" that means it's possible some WERE NOT

SPOTTED! and just might be waiting to be discovered (or reported) image

  • We bought quite a few boxes and blanketed different dates/inspector codes and found not a hint except for some with what looked like grey metal on the rims and partially into the fields. Thought we were getting close to the run and we may very well have been, but didnt find a single coin struck on a quarter planchet. Figured the grey metal was transfered during the minting process. There was a single date of boxes for a certain inspector code that was impossible to find and very close to the grey metal edge coins. I figure the coinwrap guys nabbed them all. I'm sure a few of those guys have some squirelled away though and we will see them in a couple years.
