Dark spot on my red Lincoln

I have seen these before but am now curious if this a chemical reaction eating away at the copper

or is it like a piece of clay setting on coin?

can it be lowered in size or removed, or leave it and live with it?

will it grow to even bigger size?
is it storage related?

It's a spend it and get another.

If you don't like it now you will never like it.

Look on the Rev and see if the Designers initials are missing (FG) its a scarce variety.

if you hold it just right you can barely make out initials, otherwise could be FS-901, thats why I'm asking

I don't plan on spending it

I don't think you can save it. The underlying damage has already been done.

We can guess why it might have happened but who really knows? There's spotting all over the obverse.

Bummer. It can happen to copper. An Intercept holder may prevent further spotting.
